Do you need an extra dose of cozy in your Maker Life? I don't know about you, but I am always looking for low cost/low stress ways to add a little more cozy to my life, and I've rounded up a few of my favorite things that I am enjoying this holiday season.
Included in this list you'll find some audio books, music playlists, boosts to stay healthy, and favorite recipes for augmenting my knitting time.
MUSIC PLAYLISTS:
Christmas Super Chill Playlist for when you really need to destress. All instrumentals. All Chill.
Jazzy Christmas Playlist for when you want to keep things low key, but add a little pep. Mostly instrumentals with a few easy going vocals.
Winter Chill for when you don't want Christmas music, but you do want to create a relaxing vibe.
YOGA FOR KNITTERS:
A playlist from the Wooly Thistle
Short videos that target the body parts we use the most for knitting and crochet.
The Knitting PT also shares a lot of great content for keeping your body healthy when you're doing a lot of crafting.
AUDIO BOOKS:
I just finished (and LOVED) Ina Garten's memoir:Be Ready When The Luck Happens. She's charming and real and it made me want to cook and travel.
I've added this fun little backlist read from 2009 to my list for this year. It's not my usual genre, but it sounded fun.Knit The Season by Kate Jacobs.
FAVORITE HOLIDAY TREATS:
This is theCranberry Cake I make every single Christmas, and I'm not about to stop now. It's dense, chewy, and absolutely my favorite holiday treat.
Molasses cookies are my second favorite. My Mother made some version of these every year when I was growing up, and I keep the tradition alive.
SOUP:
ThisBroccoli Cheddar soup is quick and easy and filled with flavor. It about 30-45 minutes you'll have a nourishing and delish fan favorite. (Even for those who don't love broccoli...)
QUICK LAST MINUTE GIFTS:
TheSunday Morning Hat and Cowl ebook is on sale for $5 through the end of December. You can easily knit this set up in just a couple of days if you need a last minute gift idea.
Need something even quicker? Try thisHalf Hour Hat, which used super bulky yarn and knits up in less than the time it takes to watch your favorite Christmas Movie. The designer talks about it in her recent Vlogmas on Youtube.
IMMUNE BOOSTING TEA:
I've been sick three times since September, and I'm trying really hard to stay healthy for the holidays/rest of winter. My sister shared this"tea" recipe with me, and I've been starting my day with it, which I've really enjoyed. It's a strong flavor, and some people might prefer to ease up on the cayenne, which I think would still be really effective.
THE PERFECT GIFT FOR KNITTERS:
Sorry, not sorry. It's myHand Dyed Happy Yarn Club. Yep, shameless self promotion here, but that's because I really pour my heart into the club and I think it's the best thing I create. Subscriptions start at just $28/month and make the perfect gift to you or a knitter you love.
I hope some of my favorites will become your favorites, but most of all, I hope you have a wonderfully cozy holiday season with plenty of time to chill and be creative.
Happy Making, Friends!
xx, Heather Jane
