I’ve been digging through my stash lately and dreaming up fun ways to combine color. These six DK weight patterns are my current favorites. All but one of the projects shown here were made with Hand Dyed Happy yarn, and I love how the rich, saturated colors shine; perfect for autumn knitting and for mixing and matching with your stash.
Let's get into the details! The links below are for Ravelry. Please search pattern and designer names for other pattern options.

1. Lifelines Shawl by Erika Field (fresh off the press!)
A celebration of the power of knitting, craftivism, and the endurance of the human spirit. Erika wrote the pattern for sport weight, but ended up knitting a sample using four of her HDH Yarn Club yarns, so she added an addendum to the pattern for how to mix and match colors to customize your own shawl and use alternate yarn weights to play with stash.

2. Luvina Blanket by Genevra Lee
Two sizes are available: the small blanket is perfect as a lap blanket or to fit nicely into a crib or stroller; the large blanket is a great size for a throw. Both blankets are made up of individual squares which are knit from the center out in a floral and lace pattern beginning with a pinhole cast on.
6-9 colors of DK weight yarn

3. Brooklet by Makenzie Alvarez
A squishy brioche cowl with eye catching details. Each line tells a story of organic beauty, a quiet serenade spun in yarn, meant to be cherished and adored, much like the gentle murmur of a Brooklet.

4. Woodland Wander Cowl by (me!) Heather Best

6. Buffalo Check Mobius Cowl by (me!) Heather Best
This cowl has been out for a couple of years now, and someone must have shared it recently because I've had a little bump in pattern purchases, which is so fun!
The Buffalo Check Mobius DK weight Cowl is inspired by the Buffalo Plaid prints made popular in the U.S. by the Woolrich Woolen Mills in the 1850’s. This cowl has timeless appeal as a traditional pattern evocative of fall and winter.
The Buffalo Check Mobius Cowl starts with a provisional cast on, is worked with stranded knitting colorwork techniques in the round, and finished with Kitchener stitch.

4. Woodland Wander Cowl by (me!) Heather Best
Inspired by a vibrant day spent wandering the woods and soaking in the changing light and colors, the Woodland Wander Cowl is designed to highlight your favorite hand dyed yarn pairings. This cowl is knit flat on the bias and seamed together at the end for effortless styling. It features slipped stitches and texture stitches to add interest to the stripes as well as i-cord edges for a polished finish.

5. Daft Days Cardigan by Rebecca Clow
This cardigan has been on my list for 2 years now, and I think that means I'm committed. An all-over textured cardigan, worked from the bottom up using a slip-stitch pattern. The magic of this cardigan comes from the colours you choose to work it up in. Use just 2 colours, a chosen palette, or mini skeins to make it truly special.

Fun Fact: All but 1 of these patterns was knit using yarns from the HDH Yarn Club. Members tell me their favorite thing about the club is how easy it is to mix and match my colorways, and I do that on purpose! I want your stash to be endlessly usable.
Happy Making, Friends!
